Help? Silicone or Saline? Empty Help? Silicone or Saline?

Post by KimberlyJ Wed Oct 24, 2007 11:01 am

I have to decide between silicone or saline breast implants. Up until recent years the only option in the US was saline because silicone implants had been taken off of the market. Well they are back and feeling oh so wonderful! The silicone implants are a closer match to the natural feel of the breast than the saline implants. But why were silicone implants taken off the market and are they really suitable for the body? Plus am I really going to feel such a great difference after they are "installed". Will anyone be able to tell that I have one or the other? Need some help with this one.

I understand it that some silicone implants leaked and caused medical problems in some women.

As far as anybody knowing depends who you let get touchy feely!

heres a thought how about one of each.

I know I'm not much help but if I got you to laugh I have done my job well.

Job well done! My plastic surgeon told me that it is harder to detect a link in the silicone implants but you will know right away if the saline implants ruptured because they will basically go flat. Do you know the disturbing visual that thought gives me? I imagine that I am just walking through the grocery store and my boobs bust. Shocked

I personally would choose saline...altho I have not felt either one, but saline is not going to poison your body if an implant does burst...and I am thinkin saline might "jiggle" like real boobs, cuz you know sometimes those silicone ones are just STILL...and who wants still boobs? I mean the sexiness of a woman walkin down the street, is often in the jiggle, or so I've been told...lol

Mammography interference and difficulty in detecting calcifications versus cancer may also be associated with silicone gel implants, especially when placed in the retromammary pocket (above the pectoralis major muscle).

Taken from the article you sent.

This alone is enough to sway me in the saline direction. I am tryng to rid myself of further complications, not add to them.

I hope someone who has them will respond before I have to make my decision.

I say go for the silicone! I wonder, do the saline breast make a squishy sound when you jump up and down like when you drink a lot of water and try to move fast? If so, then I say go with silicone. I am sure that they have made silicone better for women now. Yes, they have taken them off of the market, but they are back on. So that means that they have fixed the issue.

Please, that was a crazy but very funny visual about the saline brest bursting in the supermarket...LMAO...you are crazy KIM!!!

I have actually felt silicone implants and you are right Kim they do feel very close to real breast. Of course, if I didn't already know that they were implants I could not tell the difference from touch.

There are definitely more potential complications with silicone than saline and my goal is to try and prevent future complications. I hope someone who has them will get in touch with me soon.

Saline appears to be the safer choice.
